DUKIA was founded c. 2005 to bring together Deaf academics studying or working in the UK and Ireland.

It is a well known fact that Deaf academics often work in settings without Deaf peers for professional and emotional support. The DUKIA group aims to provide the space for such academics to support each other and share information.
